Around Africa - Cape Town

I was given a great opportunity to travel the world for free or should I say getting paid as well. This has always been one of my lifelong dreams and I wouldn't, in any way, ignore this chance.

The itinerary for the first 46 days would be more of Africa! And the first ever place I stepped on this huge continent is Cape Town! Yes, I've heard of this but I never ever thought of actually visiting it. So, what should I expect, right?

Cape Town. We stayed there for 3 days. I never had the whole 3 days to explore the place but I had plenty of hours to stroll around, experience it as much as I could and conclude how beautiful it is!

Here, let me show you around.

Just around 5-minute walk from the cruise terminal is the V&A Waterfront. It houses a lot - from restaurants, souvenir shops, malls and even historical sights!

View from the terminal
As you walk to the waterfront, you will pass by this huge bank.

The bank's facade
Then, an information booth would let you get some helpful guides on your exploration. And here is the view from the booth.

Just behind it is the historical clock tower.

In order to cross, you need to use a bridge. Walking past the suspension bridge you would see the old port building. And did you know that since this is a major docking place in Africa, there are lot of ships going in and out. And I was amazed when a cargo ship docked inside the Albert harbor, and the suspension bridge was closed to the public because it actually disconnected, moved sideways to make way for the huge cargo ship!

Moving on, you would get to see a lot of carvings and sculptures. And not just ordinary ones. See these?

There's a huge chess board in the middle of the bay as well.

Continuing the walk, you would end up in V&A Food Market! Fooood is love! A lot of choices from different cuisines!

And just adjacent the Food Market is the Noble Square! Four prominent African personalities had their statues for you to see! These four had great contributions that deserved an award which includes Nelson Mandela.

Okay, much of history there. Going back to your track and turning the opposite direction is the V&A mall! See how nice it is! And the view from the mall!

I went back and caught this pic of V&A. What a first day!
