Albay Summer Adventure! (Part 1)

I would start off by telling you that this trip is special. This is going to be my very first trip outside Cebu with my dear friends. A trip we have waited for almost a year as we booked it really early. And a trip we felt kinda sad because of all the people that couldn't join, it was this friend who backed out a week before. Man, she was a big factor why we made this booking. But we couldn't just cry over some fortuitous event as life really has to go on. And there, we found ourselves in the airport, in the plane, going to a very exciting place for the very first time, ALBAY!

headed to Legazpi City!
Barely an hour flight from Mactan Cebu International Airport, you'd know you're almost there when you see THAT perfect cone. Mind you, it really is stunning. The Mayon Volcano stands really grand and welcomes every visitor from various parts of the world who really wants to see its beauty.

shy Mayon - see how huge it is
As the weather was kinda bad, the Mayon Volcano was partly hidden by clouds. But having 3 more days ahead of us didn't make me worry. I know in due time, she will let us see her breathtaking beauty.

We arrived in Legazpi City Airport on a very gloomy afternoon.
Touchdown!
This is actually my first ever trip where I didn't book any hotel in advance. I was kinda worried but it was part of the adventure. I had Mayon Backpacker's Hostel in mind though. So, through a tricycle, we checked out the place. Note that the tricycles here charge 60 pesos per trip regardless of your number (but 4 is max).

Maogmang Pag-abot
Located near the city center and having passed  few more streets, we arrived in Mayon Backpacker's. Don't ya worry, drivers know this place as foreigners keep flocking in to stay here. The complete address is: Diego Silang Street, Brgy.11, Maoyod Subd. Old Albay, 4500 Legazpi City

We booked a room for a night - gladly, it is not peak season, we were immediately accommodated. It is a room for 4 - with one double-decker and a double bed. The hostel is actually a house and they offer dorm rooms as well, free breakfast!
Tinikling Room
Kuya driver waited for us as we settled our things then we headed to our very first stop, the Lignon Hill.

Lignon Hill!
It already started raining when we went off the tricycle. We actually couldn't imagine walking our way up under heavy rain but we just did.
let the hiking begin
After around 15-20 minutes of walking, you would arrive at the top where you would realize that there's so much to do. You can try zipline, hanging bridge or you may opt to eat, buy some souvenirs and MOST of all, it is at this very place that you can take a very good pic of HER. The famous Mayon.

But we'll save that for later as Mt. Mayon is still covered. We settled in a diner and ate instead while waiting for the rain to stop.
Longsilog + coffee :)
Just in time we finished our food, the rain stopped. And here, at this very moment, we saw Mt. Mayon so so clearly we couldn't almost stop looking at her. She is really beautiful!
so perfect!
And the photo ops began...

We grew tired of all the jumping and the day is slowly ending so, we started our way down. It was much harder since you have to control yourself from walking so fast down the hill.

Legazpi City at the background
Kuya then took us back to the hostel. We rested for a while and after gaining energy, went out to try the famous Sibid Sibid Restaurant.

The place is not that near but we're just glad to tour the city at night time.

Open "almost" 24 hrs!
We ordered what the restaurant is famous for, the Sibid Express and the Tinutungan.

i sooo miss this!
and this! - Tinutungan na Manok

Spicy food is just love. Eating Bicol Express IN Bicol is incomparable. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I truly enjoyed the food. As in!
Sinigang!
We were the last customers actually before they closed
After filling our tummies, we headed back to the hotel. We kind of look for a place to chill but it was either too early for their night to start or it was just the way it was. We haven't found a place where people are jam-packed and enjoying their drinks. Maybe it was the weather as well. So, we just went back to the hostel.

Also, so much energy is needed for tomorrow and we don't want to stress ourselves out. After all, this is vacation. Good night! :)
